  1. Best gift? A pony. Really - live breathing pony.

He's a fan of Dark Knight - so that would be the choice in this house!
    thanks for the opportunity!

    1. Oh how exciting! How did they tell you? Obviously, you didn't wake up with a horse in your room... did you unwrap a photo?

  2. The best gift I received twice. When I was a little girl, my dad used to take me to work with him once in a while. Seeing he was a toy buyer for Higbee's, this was a great way for a kid to spend the day: in the toy department! I centered my morning around the wall of dollhouses, and I played with every one, just dreaming of these expensive dollhouses. Oh, how I loved those dollhouses, so you can imagine how excited I was when Christmas morning arrived and there was a 70s Lundby dollhouse which I had been told not to expect, because it was too much money! Oh how I loved that thing with its ugly orange Brady house look! Fast forward 25 years and my husband and I (expectant with child 2) are visiting my parents for Christmas, when they present me with a large Christmas gift. When I opened it, I started crying. There was my beloved dollhouse from the 70s! Salvaged from a basement box, it was musty and the walls are still falling off, but there it was in all its Brady glory. I'm in tears thinking of it right now....my dad beamed giving it to me (and a future grandchild), and that was his 2nd to last Christmas with us....thanks for letting me share his great gift...twice!

    1. Oh what a treat! My aunt was a shoe buyer for Higbee's when I was a child and she used to have us come down at Christmas time for the "insider" tours. I'm not sure if we really saw anything that anyone else didn't see, but she made us feel like VIPs those days. Then lunch at the Silver Grille. *ahhh you just gave me a lovely Christmas gift of a wonderful memory*

I would say the best gifts I ever got for Christmas were some of my favorite dolls,,,like Velvet, with the growing hair or my liddle kiddles or Hi Hi Heidi doll... I still have them on display in my house. Not as extravagant as today's toys or dolls but they still make me smile. We made our own fun with the toys we had..

  4. Hi Kim --

The best gift I ever received was a coffee-stained book from my then-19-year-old daughter called "Fathers Are Forever."

With little money in her pocket -- in fact, probably money I had lent her -- Stefanie (my namesake daughter and fellow writer) visited a local convenience store and found the book. It's price was $6.95 but, because ownership had spilled coffee on the bottom of it and caused the pages to brown and encouraged the bottom half of the book into curviture, it was being sold "as is" for $2.95.

I read the tony papreback every morning and post quotes from it on my Facebook page.

I don't mind, and have never minded, the imperfections of the book. And my daughter knew I wouldn't.

    Thank you,

    Steve

  5. Best gift was from "Santa" when I was 8. I got the Madame Alexander doll of Sleeping Beauty. Most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Two years ago, I started to watch eBay closely to find these dolls for my girls. I now have two more. One more to go and then I'll give one each to my daughters to have :)

  6. My best gift, ever, was a gift from A. She got me the most beautiful journal about eight years ago and told me to write. She was about 12 and knew enough to tell me I needed to be doing something with all those pens I owned. :)
